When the stokke Xplory arrived at the It’s a Baby headquarters I was a little apprehensive.  Id read the hype reviews and seen the Sex In The City movie i knew that the Xplory was made for the woman who shopped but I wasn’t sure if I was sold on the “look” .   I had seen a couple of very different looking Xplory type prams whizzing around Selfridges around the Trafford Centre the fabrics stood out with bold prints and bright fun colours but there seemed to be different models available ? With different seat units and heights? I never saw the same one twice so i was a little confused and looking forward to getting to grips with it.

I unpacked the box eagerly – I am a very excitable girl so i ripped all the plastic off, teared the box apart throwing all the polystyrene behind me …. and then watched while it was expertly put together by the Stokke representative Erika.  2 minutes later i was amazed at how little floor space it took up, all 4 wheels sat on a tiny square of floor space in front of me.

The simplicity of the spacious taller rather than long chassis design is a winner, the storage is truly amazing you could get a small Asda shop in the large shopping bag at the base.   The seat unit has all the traditional features front and rearward seat unit with 3 recline positions.  But uniquely lets you adjust the height of the seat unit so that you can bring baby up close to you - perfect for keeping that eye contact bond when your out and about. 

 OR bringing down to you easily doubling up as your highchair if your dining out or grabbing a coffee you can lower the seat unit to fit perfectly under a table or next to a chair leaving you to explore toghether and grow toghether.  The handle also has a large adjustable height option so it can be easily used by all members of the family what ever the height differances between you all. 

The Xplory also has the ability to take a Rider Boad – which allows an older child to step onto the board and be whisked along with you and baby

At this point i was already falling for the Xplory, all the practical functions that a complete system should have had been met and excelled,  Suitable from birth, front and rearward facing, full recline, height adjustable, massive shopping basket and all available in 6 bold colours.  I was sold. 

In the background Erika was painting out a scene of an afternoon shopping wandering through Kendals, Xplory and baby in one hand easily weaving in and out of the Cosmetics counters, dodging the perfume sprayers, handbag swinging in my hand …. in my mind i was planning which combinations of the special edition forest fabrics i would choose for the display …..

Erika reached the escalator and POP the back wheels tucked forward keeping the Xplory standing on 2 wheels and easily mobile on escalators and probably pretty much anywhere you would ever want to go.  On 2 x wheels the Xplory has the edge, you’ll never get stuck struggling to get into lifts or asking for help to lift your pram up the stairs.  You have complete access to every floor !!  The Xplory returns to its original position with a one clip squeeze motion that brings the back wheels out to their original position.    

That was the moment that i fell in love with the Stokke Xplory.
