The Classic Collection, The Sooooooo Pretty & The Cherished

The new ranges feature three beautiful, 8-piece bedding sets containing everything you will need to see your little one through the 3 key stages; newborn, baby and toddler.

The Classic Collection has a timeless, family heirloom appeal. It incorporates a delicate metallic heart print and is embellished with a traditional style crest embroidery in a soft mocha. The crisp and clean look is completed with the use of subtle ribbon trims and fine pleats making it a truly elegant collection.

A little girl’s delight, inspired by dressing up, Soooo Pretty incorporates a contrast of candy stripes, mini polka dots and ditsy floral prints to produce a vintage style with a modern twist. This soft touch bedding is embellished with beautifully detailed embroidery and appliqués to create an exceptionally sweet and girly collection.

A combination of soft mocha, creams, refreshing aqua and coffee tones, the Cherished Collection incorporates a traditional, handmade feel with the use of patterned fabrics to create a luxury patchwork design. Appliqué stars and delicate embroidery detail add the final touch to this homespun design

With the UK launch of the exclusive Studio Collection of furniture and bedding , we caught up with Silver Cross Décor designer – Victoria Dawson – for a chat.

It’s a Baby: You’ve been designing fabric and bedding for many years now, how did you first get into the field?

Victoria Dawson: Well I’ve always had a passion for interiors and fabric design. After studying surface pattern and textiles I started producing my own fabric collections and have spent my career designing for the junior and nursery market and the rest as they say is history!

IAB: Your 3 new ranges of bedding and décor are very exciting! Can you tell us a little about your latest creations?

VD: Yes, you’re right it’s been a really exciting time with the launch of furniture and bedding. I wanted to create 3 completely different looks which still captured the feel of the Silver Cross brand. Using current trends and filtering it down to create beautiful baby interiors, choosing complementing colour palettes and soft touch fabrics.

IAB: And where did you get the inspiration for Classic, Cherished and Soooo Pretty ranges?

VD: The inspiration for the Classic collection was based around tradition and with Silver Cross having so much heritage I wanted the design to have a family heirloom feel to create an elegant but pure look with a timeless appeal.
The Cherished collection was based around craft to create a patchwork feel with a combination of prints and delicate detailing to give a handmade feel.
Sooooo Pretty is my favourite collection, I wanted to create a fun girly theme; every little girl loves dressing up. Using vintage inspiration and adding modern styling this collection of ditsy florals, mini polka dots and beautiful embroidery detailing gives a very sweet feel.

IAB: With so much nursery bedding and décor in the UK market, what makes Silver Cross stand out from the rest?

VD: The 3 stage idea is pretty unique on the market. You can take away a box full of goodies that takes you through from newborn to toddler. It’s an easy step by step guide to a stylish nursery that will last through to toddler with a complementing room accessory to finish off your baby’s room.

IAB: What has reaction to the new bedding and décor ranges been like so far?

VD: We’ve had a brilliant reaction to all 3 bedding collections. Each design appeals to a different customer so we’ve seen quite an even split. For those parents who haven’t found out if it’s a girl or a boy, they want a generic colour and Classic fits the bill perfectly. If they know or little one has already arrived then either Sooooo Pretty or Cherished tend to be the preferred options. We’ve also had lots of comments about how much easier it is having a complete set – choosing the correct bedding and tog ratings can sometimes be a little confusing but each stage of baby’s early years are catered for in one box and it provides great value for money at only £150 – that’s only £18.75 per per item in the 8 piece set!

IAB: Does Silver Cross have plans to produce further ranges of bedding and décor?

VD: Yes, we have lots of exciting plans in this area and we are currently working on a new décor design and co-ordinating products for the three current ranges… There’s always lots of interesting developments going on behind the scenes!
