For thoose of you who are fans of the Silvercross surf you will know that while the travel system is light and extremely useable the only downfall was the teeny tiny shopping basket that it comes with so for all you ladies who like to shop as much as i do a tiny basket is a tiny nightmare !!

Silvercross seem to have forseen our worried and the Lobster Pot is due to arrive in store in the next few weeks.  The lobster pot gives you a huge storage at the bottom of the chassis – shopping problem Solved !!

The surf has been a massive hit in our store, customer reaction to the product has been exceptional. Quite rightly so! It looks absolutely fantastic and has all the features and benefits you could want. Once you have decided that this is the travel system for you, that it meets all your needs and fits perfectly with your lifestyle there are still a few decisions to make. Let us walk you through them……

First of all you need to decide between the three chassis and seat units that are available:

• Black Chassis/Slate seat (dark grey)
• Silver Chassis/Black seat
• Gun Mental Chassis/Linen seat (light grey)

The seat units are supplied complete with the beautiful luxury baby snug, which make this pushchair seat suitable from birth.

Once you have chosen the chassis and seat there are 7 colour options for the “essential pack”. It’s a great name for this product as it is truely essential that you buy it as it contains the pram hood, apron, seat liner and parasol. The essential pack is available in black, slate and linen to match the seat units as well as Lime, Lilac, Chilli red and Tangerine if you are looking to inject some colour into your pushchair. For those cold days there is a Surf snug, which is basically Silver Cross’s version of a footmuff or you may prefer to keep your baby warm with one of the fleece or knitted blankets.

Although as previously mentioned the Surf seat unit is suitable for your baby from birth there is also a carrycot option to turn your pushchair into a pram. Obviously there is an added cost to the carrycot that you could argue is an unecessary cost when you already have a from birth seat but there are some key benefits to owning a carrycot. The carrycot is suitable for occassional overnight sleeping so if you are staying away from home with friends or family the surf carrycot can double as your babies moses basket for the night. Babies tend to sleep a lot in the early months so when you are off on a long walk or a shopping trip the carrycot is the perfect place for your baby to be lay flat while he or she is sleeping.

The carrycots are available to match each of the chassis options. Here’s an Its a Baby top tip- The hood supplied on the carrycot can be used on your pushchair, so if you also buy a coloured essential pack you have the option of either using a hood that matches in with your seat unit or the hood to match the rest of your essential pack giving your surf 2 different looks.

Ok, so you’ve chosen your chassis and seat, you’ve made a decision whether to invest in a carrycot and have selected the essential pack colour. Now we move onto car seats!

The Surf has a Silver Cross Ventura plus compatible car seat that slots directly onto the chassis and again this comes in the three colours to match the chassis and base fabrics (black /slate, silver/black and gun metal/linen) however Silver Cross will be making some Maxi Cosi adaptors available from September onwards so that means that as well as the Ventura that you can have your pick from the Maxi Cosi infant carrier range- That’s the Cabriofix and new Pebble. This is a very pragmatic move by silver cross as they don’t have an isofix car seat base for their own car seat at the moment. In our store this has been a show stopper for many customers in the past who would have purchase a silver cross product if they could also have an isofix base. The car seat bases are of course another add on purchase but from experience I can tell you that they do make life a lot easier, simply clicking your car seat in and out can be a god send! However it is also important to point out that it is perfectly safe to use a seat belt to securely fit the infant carriers in your car but do please make sure that you visit a nursery store in person for some tuition from a trained member of staff. Here at Its a Baby we are more than happy to teach our mums, dads, grandparents, aunties, uncles and who ever else you may enturst with your baby, to secure your car seat safely and securely.

Ok, I think you are now good to go. Thats the chassis and seat unit selected, the essential pack, the carrycot option, the car seat, the snug and the fantasic silver cross blankets.

SURF DELIVERY HAS BEEN BOOKED IN TO ARRIVE IN STORE WEDNESDAY 7TH APRIL !!!!!

The wait for the Silver cross Surf has gone on forever … well at least 6 weeks.  Images and updates have been trickling slowly from Silver cross and personally i  have also been stalking the very glamourous Silver cross representative weekly, sometimes daily for updates, images and any information that i can get my hands on so that i can update all the parents who have been anxiously anticipating its arrival with me.

So when i visted Silvercross at the Harrogate Baby show it was the top of my list to go check out the Surf in all its glory AND i was not dissappointed.  It was great to see the different chassis colours and accessories iv seen the Tangerine in the flesh and love the brightness of the fabric which  is  sunshiny bright but still super classy – im sure we have all seen examples of how bright fabrics can look oh so wrong.   Silver cross are known for their iconic classic style so I had a few initial reservations as to whether silvercross would be able to pull off a modern style system.

But there was no need foer my reservations the fabrics are perfect, bold statement colours with no hint of glaring tack.  Each of the 6 colour choices are adorable :

Linen

Tangerine

Lime

Chilli

Lilac

black and slate there is a colour that even grandparents can decide on.

To complete the Surf as a travel system you can choose the Ventura Plus carseat OR if you would prefer to have a easybase in the car for extra piece of mind you can choose a Maxi Cosi Cabriofix or Pebble car seat and use the Silvercross adapters …. They really have tho0ught of everything !!

The latest update from Silvercross is that the consignment is due to land this weekend and the Surf will arrive in store late next week – Wohooooo !!
